California reggae artist J Boog rocks "Rose Petals"

Jerry Afemata, mostly known as J Boog,  is a famous reggae singer born in Long Beach but moved and grew up in Compton, CA. Some of  J Boogs song also have a R&B, hip-hop, and rock feel to them. He is one of the top reggae singer in the U.S. J Boog started in 2007 with his first album Hear ME Roar and hasn’t stopped since. Many of his albums have been on the top billboard including his recent album Wash House Ting with the #1 hit song “Rose Petals” which peaked on the billboard on April 4th 2017.

The album Wash House Ting is all about promoting love and positivity in the world. Growing up in Compton, CA, J Boog witnessed a lot of hate in the world and wanted to tell people to leave all the hate behind and be more positive. His number one song on the album “Rose Petal” is talking about a loving a girl and wanting her to love him back. The major of the song is about being yourself and not worrying about things you can’t change. Most of the song on this album aren’t very popular yet, but all have good meaning behind them.

The Wash House Ting like most of the other albums that J boob sings feel good music that promotes happiness and love. From the album Backyard Boogie in 2011, his songs “ Let’s do it again” and “Sunshine Girl” were major successes hitting billboard charts from 2011 - 2013. These are all very popular songs that talk about being with a girl. Bob Marley, a very famous reggae singer, is very similar to J Boog. They both sing about the hate in the world and how they wish it could change. In some albums they both sing about love in the world and how we should focus more on that then all the hate.

People that listen to reggae would agree that J boog and Bob Marley are similar. Because they both sing about similar topics and both sing the same genre, many people would agree that they are very similar. Bob Marley may be a legend with a better voice but J Boog is an upcoming artist and has many years to come.
